OhioPHP offers the Safe Haven program, a confidential program to assist healthcare professionals with illnesses that may impact their health and well-being.

Upon completion of these webinars, users will -
Learn and identify the symptoms of substance use disorders (SUD) in physical therapy professionals.
Identify signs and symptoms of chronic stress and burnout.
Apply common well-being techniques to your personal and/or professional life.

Healthcare has changed significantly, especially since the pandemic.  With the increasing workloads and uncertainty within healthcare, there is an even greater need to care for ourselves as well as others. When A Healthcare Professional Needs Help:: The Safe Haven Program for PT Practitioners

Summary

In partnership with the Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Trainers Board, OhioPHP administers a safe haven program for all licensees. This is a confidential path for physical therapy professionals and other healthcare providers to seek help for burnout, mental health or substance use disorders and a therapeutic alternative to regulatory awareness. OhioPHP is a nonprofit organization that provides confidential and compassionate support for healthcare professionals with illnesses that may impact their health and well-being. This training will provide an overview of chronic stress, burnout, mental health and substance use disorders, an introduction to OhioPHP’s services for physical therapy professionals, eligibility requirements for the safe haven program, and the benefits of long-term, confidential monitoring. We will also discuss the differences between OhioPHP engagement and potential investigation and disciplinary action with the OTPTAT Board.

Upon completing this course, the attendee will - 

• Learn and identify the symptoms of substance use disorders (SUD) in physical therapy professionals.
• Discuss best treatment practices for physical therapy professionals.
• Overview of OhioPHP's confidential programs for physical therapy professionals.
